Malaysia Towers
On The Air
An amateur radio award programme combining radio activity and discovering Malaysia's observation towers. From the 421 m KL Tower to forest lookouts in Sabah and Sarawak.
What is TOTA?
Towers On The Air (TOTA) is a ham radio award programme run by OK2IH that encourages operators to activate lookout towers and to make contact with them (wwtota.com).
Malaysia TOTA lists 18 lookout towers across West Malaysia, Sabah, Labuan, and Sarawak. Each tower has been assessed against the five TOTA eligibility criteria. Towers are marked as Active (fully eligible, ready to activate) or Conditional (eligible with caveats such as limited access or non-standard structure - check the tower's notes before activating).
The official programme - rules, log uploads, cluster, awards and diplomas - is administered at wwtota.com.
Eligibility criteria
- Permanent structure fixed to the ground
- Man-made construction (not a natural formation)
- Viewing function of the surrounding landscape
